Her mother, Lucia, introduced family and friends to the pleasures of Julia Child’s provincial French cooking and her specialty, Persian cuisine! From her mother-in-law, Cora, came a raft of traditional New England recipes with directions on how to expand them to feed 100! Her family which includes sausage makers, home brewers, cheesemongers, Yankee cooks, and vegetarians bring a variety of dishes to the table.

Breads – stone ground whole wheat twists redolent of toasted walnuts, decadent Philadelphia sticky buns, crusty baguettes, sourdough rounds with rosemary from her extensive herb gardens, etc. were her first retail venture. As her children grew, so did her commitment to the community, and church suppers and community dinners became a proving ground. Catering was a natural extension. Weddings, graduation parties, family reunions, garden parties, anniversaries, and corporate affairs became part of her culinary life.

A theatre and English major in college, a teacher by profession, a voracious cookbook and food history reader, a gardener, and localvore, Nan brings inventiveness, care and expertise to her food preparation and presentation.

the catering chef for the Meeting House Inn located in Henniker, New Hampshire before moving to Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and baking the Main Street Bakery. After a few moves, and beginning a family, she finally settled in Canaan, New Hampshire. Carolyn worked in the extensive herb gardens at Enfield Shaker Museum where she learned to incorporate fresh herbs and local ingredients into her cooking and presentations.

Carolyn has always enjoyed the crazy aspects of catering parties for large groups of people and the intimacy of cooking for small events. To both, she brings a fine-tuned ability to organize all aspects for a well-planned event.

Nan and Carolyn have created a culinary partnership over their years of working together producing amazingly fresh beautiful, and delicious foods. They love their art, enjoy creating new dishes, and have an amazingly good time collaborating on events.
